Boys to Manhood and Sister to Sister
The mentoring programs for young women and young men from 13 to 18, provides activities that strengthen self-esteem, self-respect and responsibility. Boys to Manhood program is led by men who volunteer to help young men develop positive character traits including self-respect, respect for women and the impact of fatherhood. Both programs are weekly sessions to help young teens communicate openly, discover life options and opportunities develop social skills, and become aware of their community and the world around them. Meetings may include guided discussions, rap sessions, guest speakers, social events, cultural enrichment activities. The teens are encouraged to attend college and are provided with SAT preparation and information about getting into college. The Sister to Sister program is conducted by women volunteers who serve as positive role models and mentors for the teenage participants. With the guidance of caring volunteers, these young women and men learn life skills that will empower them throughout their lives.
